Excalibur is a party game filled with bluffing and subterfuge. Scheme, bluff, and use the powers of Arthurian legends to get Excalibur into your hands and keep it safe from the other would-be kings 'round the table!

Learn More About Excalibur
Excalibur is a lighthearted Arthurian bluffing party game designed by Manny Trembley. Two to eight would-be kings scheme, bluff, and backstab their way toward holding the legendary sword when the game ends, all while trying not to get stuck with the Cursed Blade. It teaches in a couple of minutes, plays in about twenty, and scales from a tense two-player duel to an eight-player melee, which makes it a natural fit for game nights, parties, and mixed groups.
KEY FEATURES
- 2 to 8 players, about 20 minutes. Quick to teach, quick to replay, built for rematches.
- Scales widely. A duel at one end, chaotic eight-player mayhem at the other.
- The sword never sits still. Excalibur is stolen, swapped, and stashed constantly. Holding it is never safe.
- The Cursed Blade hook. Get stuck with it and you are the "ultimate loser." Pawning it off on someone else is half the fun.
- Bluffing and table-talk. Read who is holding what, and get the table to misread you.
- Player-controlled endings. A player holding Excalibur can help trigger the game's sudden finish, so timing and nerve matter.

- Whoever holds the Excalibur chip when the game ends is the winner, takes the crown, and becomes ruler.
- If no one holds Excalibur, the kingdom is in chaos and everybody loses.
- Whoever is stuck with the Cursed Blade is the "ultimate loser."
- If one player holds both Excalibur and the Cursed Blade, every other player shares a "tainted win."
- Some chip abilities can also alter these win conditions.
HOW TO PLAY
A round is one quick cycle, and a game is several rounds:
1. Refill your hand back up to 4 chips, drawn from Avalon, the shared pool of chips spread across 3 regions.
2. Play one chip.
3. Reveal the played chips.
4. Resolve each chip's effect. Effects vary widely: steal, swap hands, peek, pass swords, trash, draw, and others.
5. Pass to the next round.
Across the rounds, Excalibur changes hands constantly through steals, returns, and swaps, and can be stashed back in Avalon. The Cursed Blade is the thing nobody wants to be left holding. The game can end abruptly when a region empties, and a player holding Excalibur can force that moment.
How the game ends and who wins: Each game runs several rounds until the chips in Avalon are nearly gone. When 1 region of Avalon is empty (or 2 regions in a 6 to 8 player game), the current round becomes the final round. After it finishes, the winner is determined:
